Ferrari F40

The Ferrari F40 is a 1987 Ferrari super sports car, the last built under the supervision of Enzo Ferrari. With a top speed of 320 km/h and a 0-100 km/h time of just under four seconds, the F40 was one of the fastest production cars of its time.

In 1984 Ferrari released the 288 GTO. Four Ferrari 288 GTO Evoluzione's were made of these, a car developed for the so-called Group B racing. However, the FIA scrapped Group B racing and the GTO was obsolete before it was even seen on the track. However, the development of this car would not have been in vain and it was used as the basis for the F40.

In 1987 the Ferrari brand celebrated its 40th anniversary, and to celebrate Enzo Ferrari decided to build a special car to underline what Ferrari was all about: building the ultimate sports car for the road. Comfort and luxury were left out, everything was developed with one goal in mind: performance. The F40 was equipped with a 2936 cc 90° V8 engine, which was equipped with two IHI turbos and produced 478 hp. The weight was kept low by using materials such as Kevlar, carbon fiber and aluminum, just like the Formula 1 cars. Pininfarina was responsible for the design.

The F40 goes from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.9 seconds and became the first production car to reach the 200 mph (320 km/h) limit, a milestone in automotive history.
